A 3 mile circular walk around the wooded Pennine valley of Hardcastle Crags, near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. Owned by the National Trust the valley comprises a beautiful shallow river, Hebden Water with steep wooded valley sides and you will have chance to discover lots of wildlife plus some industrial archaeology along the way. If you have children with you, you may wish to bring along crayons and paper as there are several engraved markers around the site, showing the various leaves and seeds in the woodland.
Ralf gets his forever home
Hello, my name’s Ralph, my friend Izzy at DogWalksYorkshire has invited me to come and tell you a little bit about my friends at Jerry Green Dog Rescue. I’ve been staying with them for a few months, since one of their people found me in the stray kennels (I sometimes get a little lost!). Now, as a young Wolfhound Crossbreed, I tower over little Izzy … and a lot of people for that matter. My friends at Jerry Green Dog Rescue had to talk to me about trying to keep my feet on the ground, even when I’m really, really excited (which is a lot of the time!) I found out, that by being a bit more chilled out, I would get more cuddles and meet more new friends – both two and four legged. My favourite friend is called Dixie, she’s a beautiful Great Dane Crossbreed, she was a little nervous of me at first (probably because I thought she wanted to wrestle! ), but once I learned how to say hello nicely, we became great friends, going out on lots of walks down the lane together with our people from Jerry Green Dogs and playing in the fields behind our house.
My friends at Jerry Green Dog Rescue are always busy running around after me, they put games in my bedroom, to keep me busy, I even had a proper human chair in my room. Every morning I would run free in our fields or do some jumps (I’m good at jumping!), then after lunch we would go out with Dixie or one of my other friends. They would bring me out to office to say hello to new people, I am the most handsome dog in here, after all. In fact, that’s how I met my new family last month … two of them are very, very little people, I have to keep my eye on them so they don’t get lost or fall over. My new tall person says that I’m the best dog ever, and now I live at their house and have cuddles all the time.
