A 2.5 mile (4km) there and back walk from the village of Terrington in North Yorkshire. This simple route allows you to experience the tranquillity and far-reaching views of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, without venturing too far from civilisation. This walk is part of the Howardian Hills Easy Countryside Trails collection, published through a collaboration between iFootpath and the Howardian Hills AONB Partnership, with the aim of providing countryside access for all in the Howardian Hills.
This area takes its name from the landowners of Castle Howard, the 18th century stately home. The Howardian Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering 77 square miles of woods, farmland and historic parkland, between the North York Moors and the Vale of York. Walks here can be energetic, so get yourself and your dog ready for a bit of exercise. Terrington and Hovingham are two of the pretty Yorkshire villages you will find on your travels in the wonderful Howardian Hills.
