This area takes its name from the landowners of Castle Howard, the 18th century stately home. The Howardian Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering 77 square miles of woods, farmland and historic parkland, between the North York Moors and the Vale of York. Walks here can be energetic, so get yourself and your dog ready for a bit of exercise. Terrington and Hovingham are two of the pretty Yorkshire villages you will find on your travels in the wonderful Howardian Hills.
